Mayday, mayday...Is this really a nation in dire disctress? Now we're not saying the 'hoister' for the 1979 flag-raising re-enactment was making a political statement, but 20 days to go to the Referendum and it looks like Vincyland’s turned totally upside-down! A foreigner has predicted a tsunami, a local bishop has predicted heart attacks and I predict deeper divisions...and I’m no pessimist.
Now last post I told you about a concern I had with an important provision in the Referendum Act...well isn’t it amazing that the opposition party in parliament is too busy majoring on minors that it has failed to attend to weightier matters that could scuttle all their ‘vote no’ efforts? Is it that they are not aware of it (which would not be surprising) that they are they so silent ? (SCREAM!!!!)We believe this is one sure way to hijack the process which is why so many people are predicting the outcome with a great degree of certainty...despite the odds.
I just caught Sabralpho Caesalves on TV- all he needs now is a bucket of persimmon paint and he’s good to go. Comrade’s got to be calling Sabo, ‘Mini Me’ by now (GASP!!!) Mind you, I feel no affinity for the Privy Council, but that learned gentleman was, inadvertently, offering me a few very good reasons to not want us to kiss the PC goodbye... (You might catch him on API tomorrow night).
By the way... please tell our friends who genuinely believe that saying so-long to Her Majesty’s Privy Council will automatically ‘reinstate’ the death penalty that one Justice Adrian Saunders is known to have said, ‘...I had and continue to have absolutely no reservations about ruling automatic death penalties unconstitutional as infringing the constitutional protection against inhuman treatment.” (See this quote in context here). Of course his position may have undergone some revision, since then, but he hasn’t told us. How then are we going to guarantee rulings from the CCJ favourable to those who want a life for a life...huh?
By now you have heard about the new No Vote Committee led by Nurse Margaret London and ‘My pardner’ Frank DaSilva. They are calling for a 25% slice of the 4-million dollar referendum pie and they are going to court to press their case. The comedy now start! But there’s more...another individual or group has established a website in support of the ‘Vote No’ effort. Don’t know who or what they are connected to but on the website they have a facility that purports to allow you to check the voter’s list. For a lark, I keyed in a random series of noughts (I later counted them -18 in all) and this is the response I got back:
“Hello Macneil,
Great news! We have verified that your name is on the voters list, and so you are entitled to vote in the national referendum on 25 November 2009.
You are listed as Macneil Dublin, and your are registered to vote in polling division WGE, that is, in the constituency of West St. George. WGE is located at **TBD**.
Macneil, thank your for using our voter registration lookup, and remember, on 25 November 2009, VOTE NO!”
Well, well...so that’s an actual voter registration number? If you know the real Macneil Dublin, please assure him/her that s/he is on the voter’s list. And while you’re at it, please tell the webmaster for voteyessvg.com to update the site. After all that hoopla, I expected more...much more.

Me like it! I look forward to voting NO. Me see people done saying they winning- they right! $30 mill they have to win
What we have discovered is that one Dublin does have a voter number that is a string of zeros, then he is listed again with a different number.
Me day ya with me mouth open. Me think me did no the con-stew-tution, but I am constantly amazed. Me just done listen to Marga-egret loan-done and she had some interesting pointing about why we should vote no. She not so art-tick-you-late, but you know how we gar-badge keepers does have to in-ter-pray-it how people want them gar-badge collected, me try to understand her. But two things came up. 1. Death for high tree-zone who detrmines what is tree-zone? Cam-bull borrow Cuba constitution? That sound communist. After all the freedom of press and speech they talking bout in the said constitution. Additionally she lighted a case in Jam-rock way them nearly kill two people in-no-scents-lee. Jamrock much more developed in terms of tec-null-ah-G and mistake like that could happen, who is we?
The other point she bring up was the same sex marriage. She say they playing on our home-ah-for-bic emotions. Is true! Me nah say I promote same sex marriage, I am simply saying one could be voting solely for the purpose of not having same sex marriage. We talk about am-buds-man. He go be a goat, if he4 challenges the government, when he getting paid by that said government! Did the vote "no" committee ever get money? Further clarification required!
The PM has the hart to say too much power vested in the pm at present. lol Change the constitution. Hope them never vote yo out! lol Pm get more power in this new constitution.
